Change CUCM IP Address Without License Re-Host

Hello this post is about how to change the CUCM IP Address without request a license re-host from Cisco Licensing Team, It only covers the process for Publisher when it is defined with an IP Address (when it is defined by name the process is very similar, but take care with DNS resolution).

For this Lab I´m using Communications Manager version 9.1.2, my LMS is the same CUCM.

1.- Take a DRS for all your servers, for example CUCM, CUC and IM&P.
2.- To avoid issues related with ITL file set the "Enterprise Parameter" >"Prepare Cluster for Rollback to pre 8.0" to "True" for CUCM.
3.- Under LMS check your current inventory to reflect the actual status. You can see my CUCM with an IP addres 10.1.X.X.

Collecting Traces from CUCM

Hello this post is about how to collect traces for CUCM, it is focused in 10.5 version. We can check the signaling across the CUCM to check detailed logs from processed calls. These traces must be turn on before, after we finish it is recommended to turn off them.

Configure Traces

First, go to CUCM and log into Unified CM Serviceability.

Then go to Trace -> Configuration

Cisco Extension Mobility Step by Step

Hello this post is about how to configure Extension Mobility on Cisco Communications Manager, I configure many times this features and I was some issues related to a misconfiguration. The following guide is a checklist to deploy correctly extension mobility feature.

Verify Extension Mobility Service is Running

Note:  If you have a cluster you have to enable Extension Mobility Service across all servers.

 -  From the Navigation menu select Cisco Unified CallManager Serviceability

 -  Select Tools > Control Center – Feature Services

 -  Make sure that the Cisco Extension Mobility service shows status Activated

Setup vsftpd to Backup Cisco CUCM on Linux

This article shows how to setup a sftp server to backup Cisco Collaboration suite, maybe many times you don´t have a Microsfot Windows Server for backing up your Cisco Servers.

FTP is insecure because the username and password are transmitted in clear text, you could have a man in the middle attack and obtain useful information. Is very recommended to use SFTP instead FTP to encrypt data during transfer,

For this scenario I used CentOS version 6.5 x64, Cisco Communications Manager version 10.5, and Cisco Unity Connection version 10.5.

Change the Cisco IP Phone Background

This article shows how to change the IP phone background for Cisco Communications Manager. The background image come from the List.xml file that is copied by the IP Phone from the TFTP server. This file contains a list of all available background images available on the TFTP server, in this case our CUCM.
